Good morning my name is Cameron Black and I’m with Ollis/Akers/Arney. It’s going to be the second video I’m sending out in a series that I’m putting together I sent one out a couple weeks ago got some great response and so I wanted to continue down this track. If this is not your cup of tea feel free to disregard and and don’t watch. Obviously you won’t hurt my feelings – I won’t know. For those of you that get something out of it I think it’s going to be a great topic for you.
I wanted to share with you my top three daily rituals. The three things that I do when I first get up in the morning that really set me up for a great day and I think if you were to do them too, your day would really go well.
You know the first thing I like to do as soon as I wake up in the morning is state all the things that I am grateful for. now that list is very extensive and it’s quite funny the more you do it the more things you find there actually are to be grateful about. Obviously I start with some staples, you know I’m grateful for my wife, my family, grateful for the house I live in, the job that I have, but I go all the way down to the things are kind of kind of silly in some people’s eyes and I always put a smile on my own face by ending it like this, “I’m grateful for Manchester United my favorite soccer team in the whole world and I’m grateful for their star player who’s gonna score a hat trick in the next game for me.” Whatever it is for you, you can find things are you’re grateful for and just really makes you feel good and and it shows appreciation to the world.
You know the second thing that I like to do is take 30 minutes to read. Now some people will tell you that needs to be motivational or inspirational and those are certainly two fantastic areas, but I find reading anything helps me whether it’s a fictional novel that I’m interested in, whether it’s a business article or whether it’s a local news. Just by reading something for 30 minutes in the morning my brain starts to function a little bit better, my creative thinking starts to blossom and I feel like I’m a little sharper starting my day.
The third thing that I like to do, and I do this every single day, is I review my plan for the day. Now generally I make my plan for the day the day before. In fact, at the end of the business day I spend about two to five minutes just writing down the things that I have to do the next day to be successful. And so, my third tip on the morning is I review that plan again. It takes takes 30 seconds to 90 seconds to review that plan. That really focuses my attention, really streamlines my thinking and really sets a strong plan so that I can have a fantastic day. Those are the three tips at work for me. I believe they’d work for you. I look hard forward to hearing from you and I hope you have a successful day, week and month. Take care.
